New Extech IEC 60950 Product Safety Certification for Portable Receipt Printers

Maxatec announces that Extech’s range of 2″, 3″ and 4″ wide portable, battery operated thermal receipt printers have now achieved compliance with IEC60950 - an internationally accepted Product Safety Standard.

IEC- 60950 certification has been awarded to Extech printers after comprehensive evaluation and safety testing of various components in areas such as:

• Safety and durability of components
• Markings and instructions
• Protection from hazards including electric shock etc
• Safety of wiring, connections and supply - Physical requirements - Impact test - Drop test
• Design and construction
• Heat resistance

This new IEC 60950 compliance is in addition to those required by the FCC and EEC for Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) and for Electromagnetic Compatibility Testing (commonly referred to as EMC immunity testing) as well as IEC 68 certification for environmental suitability in mobile computing applications.

Extech printers:

• Conform to ANSI/UL STD 60950
• Are certified to CAN/CSA STD C22.2 No. 60950-00
• Comply with IEC 60950:1999
• Are GS and S mark certified
• Are ETL listed (a designation similar to UL listing)
• Are CB Certified
• Are IEC 60068 Certified
