Environmental Testing Demonstrates a Truly Rugged Design

S2500 and S3500 Series are now IEC 60068 certified!

The Extech S2500 and S3500 series of 2 and 3″ portable, battery operated thermal printers are IEC 60068 certified. This demonstrates that the printers are suitable for virtually all portable printing applications. Printers used in portable and mobile applications need to meet exacting operating standards covering temperature and humidity as well as shock, vibration and drop tests. These are the key areas covered in the IEC testing specifications.

The S2500 and S3500 series are extremely small, lightweight 2″ and 3″ printers with strength and durability that make them leading printers for portable and mobile applications. The environmental standards of International Electro-technical Commission, IEC Technical Committee 50, Environmental Testing, Publication 68 were used to define the testing undertaken.

Test Results

The S2500THS passed with the following results:

• Storage temperature at -20°C for 24 hours to +60°C for 24 hours
• Operating temperature -10°C for 24 hours to +50°C for 24 hours
• Humidity: +50°C @ 85% RH for 96 Hours
• In-transit vibration passed at 10-200Hz @ 1.0g and 1 oct/min 2hr/Axis
• Free Fall drop of 5 feet (over 1.5 metres) onto concrete (all planes and corners of the printer)

The S3500T series passed with the following results:

• Storage temperature at -20°C for 24 hours to +60′C for 24 hours
• Operating temperature -10°C for 24 hours to +50′C for 24 hours
• Humidity: +50°C @ 85% RH for 96 Hours
• In-transit vibration passed at 10-200Hz @ 1.0g and 1 oct/min 2hr/Axis
• Free Fall drop at one meter onto concrete (on all planes and corners of the printer)
