Technology Supply Co. Ltd. Is the leading company in Thailand for barcode solutions. For more than 17 years they have represented major brands in Thailand such as Welch Allyn, Zebra, Telxon (Symbol), Laser Matrix, Tally, and Axiohm. 
The TSG (Technology Supply Government) is the department responsible for sales to the Public Enterprise and Thai Government. Over the last few years they have made sales of portable computers to the Provincial Electric Authority, the Metropolitan Electric Authority, the Provincial Water Authority, the Metropolitan Water Authority, the County Water Authority, the Electric Generating Authority and Thai Airways International.
TSG came to Extech because they had a new need that could not be met by any of their current suppliers. TSG required a portable direct thermal printer with a print width of at least 3 inches that could communicate via RS-232 and IrDA and support a range of barcodes. The printer was to be used in the billing project of the Metropolitan Water Works Authority (MWA). It needed to communicate with the Telxon PTC 2000, running Windows CE 2.12 on a MIPS processor, via the IrDA port.
The MWA meter readers go from house to house to read the water meter, record the data, and print out a receipt that is left in a special box at each residence. The receipt is printed on to a pre-printed form using Thai fonts. A barcode is added so that the receipt can be read later, at the point of payment, by a machine.
Al Navarro, Extech Development Engineer, worked with TSG to implement various special features and to help with the application programming including downloadable logo's and fonts and compressed graphic printing. Thai fonts came from Bitstream and Fieldsoftware.com provided the IrDA print driver.
