Mobile Receipt Printing Improves Management of Route Sales at the Maker of Corona Extra

Grupo Modelo are also the exclusive importer of Anheuser-Busch products in Mexico including the Budweiser and Bud Light brands.

Grupo Modelo's largest sales region has more than 700 routes and nearly 60,000 customers. I-buttons from Dallas Semiconductor are installed at each customer for identification purposes and for storage of relevant statistical and historic data. The data is read and updated from Hand Held Products' Dolphin computer and receipts are printed from an Extech S3000THS. Each route is kept constantly up to date with inventory and sales data and the iButtons at each customer are updated at the end of each sales call and delivery. At the end of each work day data is transferred to an AS/400 server.

The Extech S3000THS battery operated, mobile receipt printer is designed to withstand the rigours of mobile computing applications, it is small, durable, weighs less than 18 ounces and prints at nearly 2" per second. A brand new 8.4v Nickel Metal Hydride battery pack makes all this possible. The printer communicates with the Dolphin through IrDA. A rubberised boot with a special belt loop system is used by Grupo Modelo to provide even greater protection and durability. Output from the S3000THS includes the Corona logo.
